Red grape harvest is underway
After a few quieter days, our harvest team came back to the estate on August 26th for the red grape harvest. As expected, the harvest is exceptionally early and is unfolding over an extended period, likely due to the very dry conditions of this vintage. With our vineyard team, the pickers began with the earliest-ripening Merlot grapes, prioritizing the younger vines. They are continuing with the Cabernet Sauvignon harvest. The ripening of the Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot varies significantly from one plot to another. Therefore, these varieties are being picked progressively, based on the specific maturity of each plot. In total, over 22 ha of vines have already been harvested.
This precision work allows us to harvest the grapes under optimal conditions and at their full maturity. From this harvest, the new vintage of our three red wines will emerge: Château Margaux, Pavillon Rouge du Château Margaux, and Margaux du Château Margaux.
