Château Margaux in the spotlight

Built between 1805 and 1815 by the Bordeaux architect Louis Combes, the current Château Margaux is a remarkable example of the Neo-Palladian style in France. Known as the "Versailles of the Médoc," it is instantly recognizable by its façade, which features four Ionic columns and a triangular pediment.

Since 2019, a custom-made lighting system has highlighted this iconic architecture. Floodlights installed along the driveway illuminate the trees leading to the château, while eight projectors on neighbouring buildings accentuate key features of the façade including the staircase, peristyle, columns, and windows.

Three lighting scenarios reveal the château from different perspectives.

Designed with respect for the estate’s heritage, this project offers a new way to experience Château Margaux. Throughout the year, at sunrise and sunset, visitors and team members can admire the château’s façade, beautifully enhanced by this light show.
