Ensuring the origin and integrity of each bottle is a priority for Château Margaux. For more than thirty years, we have developed innovative measures to combat counterfeiting and guarantee flawless traceability.
To confirm the authenticity of your bottle and access information about your vintage (climate, tasting notes, and ageing potential), you now have two options:

Manual Verification
The bubble code is located on a label affixed across the capsule and the neck of the bottle, forming a security seal. This label cannot be removed without being destroyed. The code to be entered is printed directly on this label.

SINCE 2026
If your bottle left our cellars since January 1, 2026, scan the QR Code on the seal of your bottle with your smartphone to immediately obtain all the information.

Our protection measures
For over thirty years, Château Margaux has deployed unique technologies to protect the authenticity of its wines and ensure traceability, both technically and commercially. Each measure reinforces our commitment to give consumers the certainty of a wine of indisputable origin.
SINCE 1989
Laser marking
A pioneer in this field, Château Margaux began engraving each bottle with a laser code in 1989. Since the 1995 vintage, this unique marking has been systematically applied to all bottles. Indelible, it guarantees a secure and permanent identification.
SINCE 1997
Embossed Château
On the base of the bottle, the château's emblem appears in relief, serving as an additional security and authenticity feature.
SINCE 2011
Prooftag bubble code
All bottles from the estate have been fitted with an unfalsifiable Bubble Code by Prooftag. Like a fingerprint, this technology allows instant online verification.
SINCE 2026
QR Code
From 2026 onwards, every bottle leaving the estate is sealed with a new system incorporating a QR Code. A simple scan with a smartphone provides immediate access to authentication and traceability information.
