Last weekend marked the fourth and final pruning competition of the season at Château Montrose. Organized annually by the Association of Agricultural Employees of Gironde, the Pruning Championship brings together numerous winemakers from various Médoc estates each year. Throughout the winter, they compete in multiple challenges under the watchful eyes of a demanding jury. Each event is hosted by a different estate, with specific pruning requirements, to assess the full expertise and excellence of the pruners.
For this final championship, the 48 participants from 16 prestigious estates (including Château Léoville Las Cases, Château Lafite Rothschild, Château d’Issan, Château Ducru Beaucaillou…) had 20 minutes to prune 15 vine stocks, with a meticulous evaluation of their technique: vine formation, bud load, cleanliness, length… Every detail mattered!
Once again, our winemakers showcased their expertise, securing 1st place in the overall team ranking for the second consecutive year!
A huge congratulations to our entire team for this well-deserved achievement!
